The decade totals tell the story before I do: about 5.1 million in the 1990s, 7.9 million in the 2000s, 6.9 million in the 2010s, and 1.4 million from 2020 through 2025. The single worst year was 2007, with more than 870,000 arrests, nearly half of all drug arrests in the country.
