Mobb Deep legend Havoc drops into a rapid-fire smoke session with High Times and gives it straight: strong indica only, “no blunt babysitting,” and Snoop is still the Godfather. The conversation spans favorite strains, sesh etiquette, opening The Bridge in Queens, and the kind of daily consumption that makes even heavy smokers blink.
Interview by Shirley Ju for High Times. Presented by Slapwoods.
Asked to pick between brushing teeth or lighting up first thing, Havoc doesn’t hesitate: “Smoke. I smoke. I got to smoke… I’m about to dirty my teeth… Smoke and then brush.”
How much in a day? “About an ounce… We go crazy at the crib,” he says, noting that’s with the homies. His “no blunt babysitting” rule is non-negotiable: “Pass that. Swing that thing back.”
Strain preference stays classic. “OG Kush… I like that strong indica… all day long,” he says, adding he’s got his own “OG Havoc.” Favorite munchies? “Crunchy Cheetos. Regular. Not the Flamin’ Hot.”
His most memorable session is a familiar name in this series. “Snoop… he could go forever… he got that dank… For real,” Havoc says, and admits even he can’t keep up: “Nah… he the Godfather.”
On the business side, Havoc is opening The Bridge in Astoria, Queens. “It’s like opening up a store… You retrofit it… Do it according to regulation and you got a store… It wasn’t even that bad,” he says, teasing 2,500 square feet and access to OG Havoc on the shelves.
Music talk sneaks in too: favorite smoking song is “I Get High,” favorite stoner movie is Half Baked, and he celebrates accolades “with some good bomb weed.”
